Carlos Sainz: “It’s important to start well and press”

MADRID, 19 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) explained that he forced himself in the last corner of Q3 and it surely cost him second position on the grid, although from the third he will try to put pressure on the ‘pole man’ Max Verstappen (Red Bull) from the exit.

“I knew that I had done a good first sector, that in the second I was losing the lap a bit to fight for that pole and in the last corner I tried to win what I had lost and that probably cost me second position”, he stated in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press.

The rider from Madrid explained that last lap with the time already up and I trust that on Sunday he will be in the fight. “We missed a bit with the intermission. The race is tomorrow, we’ll try to go for it. Tomorrow it should be dry, on a circuit with little rubber, it just rained, it will be dirty,” he said.

“It can be a race where a lot of things happen, there can be degradation. The important thing will be to start well, hit Max as soon as possible and try to put pressure on,” he added, before showing his pride at the number of Ferrari fans in Montreal.

“It is impressive how many Ferrari fans there are in Canada, what encourages us, at the hotel, is a unique feeling that you only have when you race for Ferrari that I am enjoying very much this weekend,” he concluded.
