Carlos Sainz: “I prefer not to speak, they still give me another penalty”

MADRID, 2 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) did not want to assess his five-second penalty at the Australian Grand Prix, which has left him out of the points, until he spoke with the commissioners of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), assuring that whatever you say “is not going to be right”.

“I prefer not to speak, honestly. I am going to wait to speak with the commissioners, that they explain the decision they have made to me. When I speak with them, I will make a statement. Right now, what I say is not going to be right, so I prefer to wait,” he said in statements to DAZN after the race.

The man from Madrid received a five-second penalty after touching the car of Asturian Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), who was running third, at the restart of the race in Melbourne, when there were only two laps to go; the penalty took him out of the points zone. “It’s not worth it. Then I’ll go back and talk, because if not, they’ll still give me another penalty if I go to the press first,” he concluded.
