The Spanish rider Carlos Sainz (Mini) has conquered the Dakar Rally for the third time in his career after the dispute this Friday of the last stage, a special of 167 kilometers timed between Haradh and Qiddiya, while the American Ricky Brabec (Honda) has won his first motorcycle title.
After proclaiming himself champion in 2010 and 2018, Sainz rounded off his triplet, controlling perfectly the last day, which he faced with ten minutes of advantage over Stéphane Peterhansel (Mini) and Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota), and confirming that he was the best in This first edition of the rally in Saudi Arabia.
The Qatari won the last stage and the Spaniard finished fourth losing less than four minutes in goal. In the final general classification, Sainz took more than six minutes to Al-Attiyah and almost ten to Peterhansel, who closed the podium, while Fernando Alonso (Toyota) finished thirteenth in his first participation.
As for the two wheels, Brabec also confirmed a title that had more than on track before the decisive stage, won by the Chilean José Ignacio Cornejo (Honda). The final podium was completed by another Chilean, Pablo Quintanilla (Huswvarna), and the Australian Toby Price (KTM), while Joan Barreda (Honda) was the best Spanish in seventh position.
