Carlos Sainz: “A sixth position doesn’t taste like much”

MADRID, 5 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) confessed that he finished where he deserved this Sunday at the Brazilian Grand Prix, a sixth place that “doesn’t taste like much” and that seemed like a lost opportunity to cut points with Mercedes for the runner-up position. .

“We finished where we deserved. This weekend both Red Bull, McLaren, and Aston Martin went a little faster in the race. Sixth, we managed to beat the Mercedes, who were seen to have degradation problems like us,” he said in statements to Dazn, collected by Europa Press.

The Madrid native explained that the sixth position, with the abandonment of his teammate Charles Leclerc on the formation lap, left a bitter taste seeing his rival suffer in the Constructors’ World Championship, also taking into account that they expected better performance.

“In the end, a sixth position that doesn’t mean much because we expected to go faster. With the few points that Mercedes has added and Leclerc who has retired, we have still lost an opportunity to recover more points,” he stated.
