Carlos III, excited in the British Parliament while Camilla sings ‘God Save the King’

Carlos III and the queen consort, Camilla Parker Bowles, attended the British Parliament on Monday, where the new king’s first intervention as monarch took place. Carlos, moved, has remembered his mother, who died last Thursday the 8th, before the parliamentarians.

“As Shakespeare says of the previous queen Elizabeth, she was a model for all living princes,” said the father of William and Harry in Westminster Hall before the Prime Minister, Liz Truss; the leader of the opposition, Keir Starmer, and the rest of the parliamentarians. Former prime ministers like Boris Johnson or Theresa May have also been present.

For Carlos III, Isabel II is his great role model: “When the Queen was very young, she promised to serve her country and uphold the cherished principles of constitutional government that are at the heart of our nations. This vow kept her with unsurpassed devotion. She set an example of selfless duty and, with God’s help and her counsel, I am willing to follow faithfully.”

From the day of his death until his funeral, which will take place next Monday the 19th at Westminster Abbey, the tributes are continuous: “The great bell of Big Ben, one of the most powerful symbols of our nation in the world and Located inside the Elizabeth Tower, also named for my mother’s Diamond Jubilee, it will mark the late Queen’s passage from Buckingham Palace to this Parliament on Wednesday.”

One of the highlights of this solemn ceremony came at the end, when the attendees sang ‘God Save the King’ to the emotion of Carlos and Camilla. The queen has accompanied them.

The words of Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, have also deeply moved the new king, who listened carefully moments before delivering his speech.

“This is a loss for all of us, but most of all for you and the Royal Family. As deep as we know our pain is, we know yours is deeper.” After this intervention, the king and queen have headed to Edinburgh to fulfill the scheduled agenda for these days.
