Carlos Gimeno makes history with the first Spanish international medal in high jumps

Carlos Gimeno from Gran Canaria made history this Saturday in Spanish sport by becoming the first to win an international medal in the specialty of high jumps thanks to his second place in the World Cup event held in Fort Lauderdale (United States). Joined).

The canary knew how to withstand the pressure and maintained his chances of a historic podium after his third jump (306.00) and confirmed it in his fourth and last jump, which gave him a 10 and three 9.5s from the judges.

In this way, Carlos Gimeno, a swimmer from Real Canoe NC of Madrid trained by Ramón Fumadó in the M86, finished with a total of 454.40 points, more than 19 behind Popovici, winner of the test, but also well ahead of the Frenchman Gary Hunt (438.15), third.
