Almost three weeks have passed since Girona achieved promotion, but no incorporation of the more than ten that are expected has yet arrived.
One of the priority options is that of the Catalan left-back Carlos Clerc, who ended his contract with Levante on June 30, and who is waiting to close his incorporation with Girona. Clerc, who was already at Montilivi in the 2015-16 season, wants to repeat the experience after having played more than 100 games in the highest category of Spanish football. In recent days, everything pointed to the fact that the Catalan could arrive sooner rather than later in Montilivi, but there is still material to be cut.
Clerc is an experienced southpaw and he would be a perfect match for Míchel’s system. He adapts perfectly to the lane, but he can also do it on the left side with four defenders.
In addition to Clerc, Girona also has other options such as Pep Chavarría, although in this case, to sign the Girona player, he would have to go through the box.
LLUC MATAS, WITH THE FIRST TEAM
Girona will have up to seven players from the subsidiary to start the preseason that will start next Monday. In addition to Arnau Comas, Biel Farres, Sala, Artero, Ureña, Pau Víctor and Joel Roca, the subsidiary’s goalkeeper Lluc Matas will also be present. The goalkeeper completed an excellent season finale with Girona B and played a key role in the ‘play off’, in which his team lost in the final. Ortolá and Juan Carlos, with a contract, will be the two goalkeepers who will accompany Matas, waiting for a goalkeeper to arrive.
