Carlos Alcaraz will start his 2022 at the Australian Open

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, who in a few days will concentrate with the Spanish Davis Cup team to face the tournament by teams whose first phase will take place from 25 to 28 this November in Madrid, He will face a preseason of around a month and a half to open 2022 playing the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the new course and that will take place from January 17 to 30.

The 18-year-old young tennis player from Murcia, who is ranked 32nd in the world rankings and has just won the Next Gen ATP Finals in the Italian city of Milan on Saturday, will close a successful 2021 at Davis and what Spain does in it will depend on the beginning of the preparatory phase of Alcaraz for the next season.

If the team led by Sergi Bruguera and in which the one from El Palmar opens the call -it is yet to be determined whether it will play or not- qualifies for the final phase, which will be played on December 3, 4 and 5, Alcaraz will have one week less to prepare.

“It will be a short preseason for the taste of the physical trainer, but you have to adapt to the circumstances,” says Alberto Lledó, who is in charge of that facet with the tennis player who trains Juan Carlos Ferrero.

With Spain in the final phase of the Davis Cup The beginning of the work with Lledó would be started by the Palmareño on December 7 If not, it would do so at the end of this month or at the beginning of the next.

In the oceanic capital, the first great appointment of 2022 will take place in which Alcaraz will seek his confirmation in the elite and will face it directly from the final table and not having to play the previous one, as he did in the previous edition.

The Australian Open, according to the latest news received, will be played “with much more flexibility” and being vaccinated, it will be possible to access without problems in the country when we must remember that this year, after achieving a place in qualifying, many tennis players, Alcaraz among them, had to be confined to a hotel room in Melbourne for two weeks when they coincided on the plane that took them there with a positive result for coronavirus.

The Murcian, who complied with that confinement and later played the ATP 250 Great Ocean Road tournament, prior to the Australian Open, does not plan to participate in that tournament which will be held again and premiered directly at Melbourne Park.
