Carlos Alcaraz returns with victory in his premiere in Beijing

MADRID, 29 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz returned to the courts this Friday after three weeks of absence with victory in his debut in the Beijing tournament, scoring for the ATP and which is played on hard court against the German Yannick Hanfmann in two sets 6-4 , 6-3.

The Murcian had not played since his elimination in the semifinals of the United States Open against the Russian Daniil Medvedev due to physical problems and wear and tear, but after missing the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals, he seems ready to face the final stretch of season.

In his debut in the Chinese capital, where he starts as the first seed, the tennis player from El Palmar went from less to more, with a first set where he was not solid and a second where he looked somewhat better and was able to close it with some comfort to meet for a place in the quarterfinals with the Italian Lorenzo Musetti.

Alcaraz seemed to notice the inactivity and was not able to take advantage of his good advantages in the first set. The Spaniard achieved two breaks, in the third and fifth games, but Hanfmann responded with breaks in the fourth and eighth, the latter after the Wimbledon champion forgave two break points to have gone 5-2. .

But the German tennis player was not firm with his serve either and conceded it again on his eleventh break ball of the set, an advantage that the world number two no longer squandered to close the set and calm down for a second in which dominated more comfortably. Alcaraz strengthened his serve, did not give up any break options and that allowed him to finish the match with a break at the beginning and another at the end.

“I am very happy to have won this match in two sets. Yannick is playing very well, he is a really dangerous player, with great shots and he played with great ‘bombs’, so I had to be very focused, trying not to let him dominate the match. I tried to really concentrate on every part of my game, but I have to improve a little, so I am very happy to have another opportunity to do it in the next round,” said the player from El Palmar after the match.
