Carlos Alcaraz and Mario Vilella are already in the quarterfinals

Spanish tennis players Carlos Alcaraz placeholder image and Mario Vilella have achieved victory this Thursday on the second day of the round of 16 of the Alicante Challenger tournament, That is playing at the facilities of the Juan Carlos Academy Ferrero-Equelite from Villena.

The two players, who regularly train on the courts of the academy, they thus join Pedro Martínez-Portero and Bernabé Zapata in the struggles to enter the semi-finals. The ilicitano Mario Vilella beat Tunisian Malek Jaziri by 6/3 and 6/2, while Carlos Alcaraz won by 6/1 3/6 and 6/3 to the Colombian Daniel Galán. The international rivals of the Spanish will be Steven Diez, Juan Pablo Ficovich, Tomás Machac and Aleksandar Vukic respectively.

In doubles, Pedro Martínez continues his winning streak with Gerard Granollers, after beating the number one seed Purav Raja and Ramkumar Ramanathan for a double 6/2. This Friday the quarterfinals will be played in singles. Charles Alcaraz will open the day against Juan Pablo Ficovich and then Mario Vilella will face Steven Diez. The doors will open to the public tomorrow. The entrances they are already sold out due to the great limitation of capacity as a consequence of the health protocol against COVID.
