Carles Gil dreams that his moment in MLS will lead him to the Spanish national team

Major League Soccer became the home of Spanish midfielder Carles Gil a couple of years ago., who is experiencing one of the best moments of his career, as he was even named ‘Player of the Month’ last June and the New England Revolution midfielder himself He dreams that his good moment in American football will make him receive a call to the Spanish National Team.

In an exclusive interview for AS USA, the European midfielder commented that he continues to dream of a call-up with the national team of his country, to which he was called up for the U21 team in qualifying for the specialty Eurocup, debuting in a duel against Albania at the hands of Julen Lopetegui and replacing Álvaro Morata, in 2013.

For its part, Gil also spoke about the growth of the United States team and closed the door to a hypothetical call from the Stars and Stripes squad., which could draw on the talent of the Spanish footballer, as has happened in recent years, with naturalized players with dual nationality, who meet the requirements to be called up.

On the participation of Spain in Euro 2020

Reaching the semifinals speaks highly of the national team. It is difficult to reach those final stages and I think it is deserved, it has been evident that each game has found a better version ”.

Are the criticisms against Morata fair?

Morata has plenty of experience to carry this, he is having a great tournament, he scored a great goal against Croatia and wellHe is a high-level striker, in the end many times in the forwards, by a matter of centimeters public opinion changes, but I think he is a great forward and that is why he is there.

If you meet the requirements and maintain your level, would you answer a call with the United States?

It is a lot to suppose, I believe that everyone, I am excited to go with the national team, I would love to go with Spain, so I do not see beyond that”.

The United States follows a process similar to that of Spain in 2010. Will they ever be world champions?

I don't know whether to win a World Cup because it is very complicated, but it is evident that it is a better team every time and that means that here (USA) things are being done well, because in the end it is here where the quarry is produced, the talent, who often go to the best clubs in Europe. They are making a very powerful team for the future and I'm sure they will be able to compete in the big championships ”.
