The Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz (INEOS Grenadiers) has been awarded this Thursday the twelfth stage of La Vuelta a España, which has covered 192.7 kilometers between Salobreña and the first category port of Peñas Blancas, on a day where the red jersey continues being Remco Evenepoel (Quick-Step Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl), who has suffered a crash.
Carapaz took advantage of a massive breakaway to gain an advantage of almost ten minutes, where he then had to resolve against high-level riders such as the Dutchman Wilco Kelderman (Bora Hansgrohe), who came in second. Both rejoin the general classification, initial objective of both.
Among the favorites, Evenepoel did not show the same ease on the climb as on other occasions to widen his differences, perhaps reduced by the fall he suffered far from the finish line and which caused him some bruises. The first five in the general classification have entered practically together by goal.
