Capital Energy, the official sponsor of Atlético de Madrid since July 6, 2021, will be in charge of supplying renewable energy to the rojiblanco club for the next three seasons, managing the supply of the Wanda Metropolitano, the Wanda de Majadahonda Sports City, the Wanda Alcalá de Henares Sports Center, the Atlético de Madrid Foundation and the official stores of the entity in the Community of Madrid.
In this way, thanks to the 9.5 gigawatt hours (GWh) per year of clean energy provided by Capital Energy the emission into the atmosphere of around 3,800 tons of CO2 will be avoided. This agreement is included in the framework of the firm commitment of both entities to sustainable development, continuing with the study of different ways of collaboration in the future.
President Enrique Cerezo and Íñigo Aznar, Atlético’s commercial director, welcomed the president of Capital Energy, Juan Lasala; to the CEO of Capital Energy, Juan José Sánchez. The Minister of Environment, Housing and Agriculture of the Community of Madrid, Paloma Martín, was present at the presentation of the agreement.
Íñigo Aznar assured that “we are delighted with the agreement reached with Capital Energy. For Atlético de Madrid, this association represents a firm commitment to promote the development of sustainable projects, innovation and commitment to renewables. “
For his part, Douglas Medrisch, Capital Energy’s director of business operations, affirmed that in the energy company “we are very satisfied to have signed this 100% renewable energy supply agreement with Atlético de Madrid, which is aligned with our basic objective as a company committed to the ecological and fair transition: to bring clean electricity that we produce in our wind farms and solar plants for our end customers ”.
