Calleja: “Little by little you can go from suffering to enjoyment”

The coach of the Deportivo Alavés, Javier Calleja placeholder image, who will continue two more seasons in the Vitoria team explained that “the club gives everything to grow” and predicted that “little by little you can go from suffering to enjoyment.”

The Madrilenian showed his gratitude at the press conference in which his renewal was staged and said that from the first moment, both he and his coaching staff have felt at home: “This is not a matter of the coaching staff, it is up to everyone. A great job has been done. “

He did not hide his intention that it be “more than two seasons because where you are happy you do not want to move” and stressed that he is proud that the club is betting on the next two years.

“It says a lot about the trust that the club has placed in us and little by little I believe that we can go from suffering to enjoyment,” said the babazorro coach who “always” has believed in projects, not in just one year.

Regarding the preparation of the squad for next season, he said that “the harmony is total and there will be a consensus” with the sports management, but pointed out that he is “very positive” and tries to go “as far as possible wherever”.

He acknowledged that the objective will depend on the template that can be formed and see what the team needs, but commented that they will not give up anything.

Does not clear doubts about Manu García

Regarding the captain, Manu García, who has just finished his contract, he said that “he is a player that within Alavés nobody disputes his performance and what he is”, but he did not reveal his intentions regarding the Vitorian. “We are talking about each and every case. There are positions that must be strengthened and we will make decisions, “he said.

Regarding his style of play, he stated that “they start from scratch with a preseason to mark a few bases and continue adding concepts” and promised that “there will be a clear seal and it will be seen from the beginning.”

He admitted that starting with the entire squad on July 5 “is a utopia” and stated that he doesn't like squads that are too long, but it will depend a lot on the team's players and the returning players.

Javi Calleja was accompanied by the president of Alavés, Alfonso Fernández de Trocóniz, who stressed that “it is great news to continue to count on him” and celebrated that “he has integrated in an exceptional way” and that they share “visions of the future.
