Cádiz's goal: to finish as second champion

With the objective of the promotion already accomplished, Cádiz looks at the remaining two days with the tranquility that comes from having done homework prematurely. However, despite the fact that both first and second are promoted directly to First, inside the club there is a special illusion to round off the season putting the icing on the cake. And this would be none other than rising LaLiga SmartBank champions. Cádiz has not been down in the entire season of direct promotion, being leader of the League for 36 days of the 40 that have been played and second, in the remaining four. To achieve this 'mini objective', Cádiz only needs to add a point against Girona or Albacete or for Huesca to leave a point against Numancia or Sporting.

Cádiz was the Second League champion in the 2004-05 season. In the other four promotions to the highest category of Spanish football, he did not rise as first. Apart from the prestige that obtaining the title can give, going up as first or as second supposes a different monetary benefit as Jaime Aparicio affirms, from the MBA in Football Team Management and Direction at the University of Liverpool: “50% of the income in the distribution of television rights follows two variables. The first is the one that affects the final position: meritocracy, based on the results obtained in the last five seasons. A better position benefits you, as would be the case in Cádiz. “

Taking the practical example of the ascents of Levante and Girona (season 2016-17) it can be seen that during his campaign in Primera, the Valencian team (which rose as first) took 1.2 million euros more in television rights than the Catalan team. Therefore, it is evident that in addition to prestige, there is also money at stake.
