Cádiz recovered its hallmark against Athletic

Cádiz won a very important victory for the yellow team in San Mamés. And it is that Friday against Athletic Club de Bilbao were not just three points or get out of relegation. It was much more. Álvaro Cervera’s team needed to regain confidence after leaving many points along the way. It was also the day that the yellows were reunited with their best version.

The Yellow Submarine longed to be his old self again. And the Cadistas fans too they missed that team that did their homework as much as they could, getting ahead on the scoreboard by pulling speed and, later, the defensive solidity managed to tie the victory. And that’s what happened yesterday.

Even the Cadiz team could go to rest with more than one goal difference. Alberto Perea had a couple of occasions and, also, ‘Choco’ Lozano had a header that Unai Simón caught. In the second half, Cádiz had to carry out a great exercise of defensive solidity to get the three points. The set pieces were being the great threat in recent games, but Álvaro Cervera’s men did not fail against Athletic.

The whole team played a great game and the yellows seem to have found their way to stay. Álvaro Cervera’s Cádiz was once again the recognizable team of always. The recovered confidence can be key so that the Cadiz team continues to reap points in the remainder of the season, which is still a lot.

Álex Fernández: “We have read the game very well”

The Cadiz midfielder, Alex Fernandez, appeared before the official club media after the victory against Athletic Club de Bilbao and thus valued it: “Great victory, well deserved, hard work and we have been waiting for it for a long time. It is very important to us.”

This time He returned to play as a midfielder, but acknowledges that he feels comfortable in all positions. “The cadistas know that I can play in many places, I feel comfortable anywhere in the center of the field. I feel very well, very comfortable and if positive results come, everything is perfect.”

The Madrilenian explained that the game was under the established plans. “We have read the game very well, we have been intelligent from beginning to end. Finding the goal so soon has helped us because the team knows how to defend well and the intensity has been correct.”
