Another great day in Oviedo. The Campoamor Theater has been decked out to host the 43rd edition of the Princess of Asturias Awards, the last to be presided over by the kings. Next year when Leonor already 18, she will be the one in charge of leading the event. The royal family (made up of the king and his daughters) has been accompanied, once again, by the emeritus Mrs. Sofia.
She arrived alone in Oviedo but soon met with Felipe, Letizia and his granddaughters. The five of them together made an appearance at the theater and posed in front of the cameras, greeting those present. Doña Sofía took her place in the box of honor while the rest took the stage, as usual. At the end of the awards ceremony, the kings, the princess and the infanta waited patiently for the emerita to come down the stairs, as a sign of respect.
Already on the street, they have starred in images full of complicity. A pleasant and fun conversation between all of them that attracted attention due to the closeness and harmony that it exuded. A very different scene from that famous meeting at the door of the Cathedral of Palma, when a couple of gestures made the Crown tremble.
Once that disagreement of 2018 has been overcome, Letizia and Sofía embody the perfect image between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law; and the ‘girls’ Leonor and Sofía are all smiles and delicacy with their grandmother, who sees them much less than she would like but with whom she enjoyed a few days of vacation in July in Mallorca, where the photographs were very similar to these. Don Felipe has already said it in his speech this Friday: “Problems are solved through unity, never through division.”
