Bucsa, eliminated from Montreal in the round of 32

MADRID, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Cristina Bucsa was eliminated this Wednesday in the round of 32 of the Montreal (Canada) tournament, in the WTA 1000 category and which is played on hard court, after losing 6-0 and 6-4 against the Croatian Petra Martic in little more than an hour.

Despite not entering the final individual draw due to his defeat in the previous phase, Bucsa played this match as a ‘lucky loser’ due to the premature withdrawal of the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko. However, the Cantabrian was widely surpassed by Martic in the opening set.

In just 21 minutes, the Croatian scored the first set for her locker. Although Bucsa improved at the start of the second, breaking the rival’s serve (1-1), she was a slab, giving up two of her own serving turns (3-1). From that moment on, the Balkan no longer suffered serving and accelerated until certifying her ticket for the round of 16.
