Broncano doesn’t know if Pedro Sánchez has signed him but there is irrefutable evidence

Broncano denies that Pedro Sánchez is behind his signing, but we wonder how the comedian and new star of TVE knows that the President of the Government is not the one who ordered the hiring. He says that Sánchez is not behind his signing, but he does not explain who or who signed him, and what positions they have and who they work for. The comedian maintains that it was not Moncloa who ordered his signing, even though all roads lead to Pedro Sánchez. Who has the power to push through a 28 million euro signing at RTVE, which the number one and president herself was against, and who was forced to stand up to her job? Who can order the news to be reduced by 20 minutes to accommodate a comedian?

It is now more evident than ever that Moncloa pushed for his multi-million euro incorporation into TVE against the wishes of President Elena Sánchez. And it is not that Broncano is going to broadcast content ideologically in favour of Sánchez or against the right: it is about reducing the “impact” of Pablo Motos because José Miguel Contreras and other advisors to the president believe that El Hormiguero (the most watched programme on TV in Spain) is the great scourge of the Executive.

“Why do they have to watch my programme? They don’t have to if they don’t want to. If they do, they’ll have a good time. But it’s not obligatory.” With this aplomb, David Broncano promoted the premiere of La Revuelta on the Telediario on Wednesday, whose team is furious after learning that the launch of the continuation of La Resistencia will sap the second edition to just 40 minutes.

Dressed in an outfit worthy of a rapper, and hiding behind an ‘ego-discourse’ very far from the one he had years ago, the showman appeared at the FesTVal in Vitoria and denied that his signing was remote-controlled by La Moncloa, despite the fact that his incorporation into RTVE would have been materially impossible without the direction or, at least, the consent of the Government.

Broncano denies the obvious

TVE’s new star played the victim on Wednesday. “It has been assumed that Pedro Sánchez has said that I should do the programme on TVE and that is false. We finished our previous contract, we had several offers and this is the one that convinced us the most,” she says.

Broncano believes that “simplifying it and saying that Pedro Sánchez has put me there as if I were his nephew is ridiculous, offensive and a lie. I understand that this has a brutal media and political use and casts a twisted shadow over what we are going to do. I think it is very ugly. If people think that we are going to make political propaganda, they neither know me nor have they ever seen the programme.”

The communicator could answer other questions that have been left unanswered:

-What other promoter or driving force other than Moncloa could be behind an appointment that has been successful, even with the previous president Elena Sánchez against it and losing her post for opposing his incorporation?

– How do you know with such certainty that Moncloa is not behind his signing, even if he is unaware of it?

– If you had other offers, why did you choose the one from public television? Perhaps because of the high price that TVE will pay and, above all, because you are guaranteed continuity, whatever happens in terms of share?

-Why don’t you say who hired you? What are their names and positions? Who did they report to? Elena Sánchez, who left feet first? Content Director José Pablo López, who was also sacrificed?

-Have you met Pedro Sánchez in La Moncloa?

Broncano turns a deaf ear, saying that his hiring became a “state issue” and insinuating that the opposition cannot protest his incorporation. “They have taken my photo in Congress saying that I have taken money that was intended for the Civil Guard or for patients in hospitals. That is outrageous. They know it is a lie because they know that it does not work that way. TVE’s budget is for TVE programmes, it does not take money from other ministries. Whoever says that is a terrible professional or a terrible person. It is shameful,” he says.

Does not compete with motorcycles

Broncano says that on Monday he will lose against ‘El Hormiguero 3.0’, which is more of a habit than a programme according to his new adversary. “My only fear is that Motos will score 75% and we will score 1%,” he says.

The former Movistar Plus+ star wants to take the pressure off of himself due to the ratings and says that he doesn’t even know what La 1’s average is or who his first guest will be, a symptom of the lack of concern on his part and that of his team despite the nervousness that has been unleashed on TVE.

“It has been said that we came to take advantage of the public sector, but I see it the other way around. What we want is to contribute something to the public sector, not take advantage of it. I am proud to contribute with my work to making public television stronger,” he adds.

The presenter is now open to interviewing politicians, despite having banned them on Movistar Plus+, and says he would like to have a face-to-face meeting with former president Mariano Rajoy (while not ruling out having Pedro Sánchez as a guest).

Anger on TVE

We have already reported on Informalia that Spanish television is furious with Broncano, who has refused to cut short his holidays, just like Pablo Motos, who has not stopped working during the summer and has had the best start of the season for his programme, or Carlos Latre, who had his only recent success in bringing forward the premiere of Babylon Show to 26 August.

Broncano has been boasting for years about not preparing his projects: on SER’s La vida moderna he boasted of going ‘bare’ to Gran Vía 32 and on Movistar Plus+’s La Resistencia he made jokes about not knowing who the guest on duty was or their CV. The problem now is that, if the audiences on TVE don’t respond, he has many ‘enemies’ who will be waiting for him with the scythe.

The political interference from La Moncloa in favour of his signing, the 14 million euros that RTVE will pay per season and the facilities he has received to stay on the air, since they only ask for a 7.5% share from his second season onwards, have made him lose sympathy.

The delay in the start of the Broncano season has left the Teatro Príncipe Gran Vía in a rut, and it will remain the home of the showman and his colleagues Ricardo Castella, Jorge Ponce, Grison, Ernesto Sevilla, Pablo Ibarburu, Valeria Ros and Antonio Resines.

La Revuelta is missing collaborators, just like La Resistencia, and also live, since they will continue to bet on broadcasting it recorded since there is fear in the team that some verbal slip by their guests or collaborators will further strain the atmosphere.
