Brizuela says goodbye to Unicaja: “I have been presented with a very difficult opportunity to reject”

MADRID, 9 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish guard Darío Brizuela said goodbye to Unicaja Malaga this Wednesday with an emotional press conference, in which he described his signing for FC Barcelona as “a very difficult opportunity to reject” and in which he thanked the Malaga entity for the time tour together.

“Thanks to all of you who have come. I see my entire time at the club represented here. I didn’t bring anything prepared, I just wanted to be clear and show my gratitude. The best memory I take with me from this city, in addition to sports, is my son ; it will always be from Málaga,” Brizuela told reporters, referring to her baby Bruno.

“We are tremendously grateful for not only making me a better player, but also a better person. Sportingly speaking, it may seem like an easy decision, but emotionally and for my family it was not an easy decision. What we have here I don’t know if it will be possible to replicate it elsewhere”, the escort continued in his conference.

The Basque player explained the reasons for his move to Barça: “I want to tell the fans that a very important challenge has been presented to me, a very difficult opportunity to reject as a sportsman and competitor. It is not an economic question, it is purely sporting”.

“I have not seen the closeness that I have experienced in this club anywhere. I have tried to apply it with my teammates, that warmth when dealing with someone from outside,” said Brizuela, who pondered his return wearing the Blaugrana. “I imagine that they will receive me with applause, but when the game starts there will be no more. I know the fans of Malaga and they don’t give away a basket,” he declared in this regard.

Lastly, he praised the value of the group despite leaving: “I was a member of the block, Unicaja continues to aspire to compete in every game and win everything I play. My departure doesn’t change that at all.” His time in Malaga accumulated “a lot of memories”. “In bad times you see real people and here I have found people who have supported me at all times,” Brizuela said.
