Rescue teams continue to search for those missing after the sinking of the yacht Bayesian, in which the tycoon died Mike Lynchhis daughter Hannahis lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife, Nedaamong others, and conspiracy theories are beginning to spread on social media. The reason? The British ‘Bill Gates’ had been fighting in court for 13 years, accused of 17 fraud offences following the sale of his company to the computer giant Hewlett Packard (HP) for 11 billion dollars (9.943 billion euros). In June he was acquitted of all charges: “Life is wonderful”he said then.
Lynch gave an interview to celebrate her freedom after a year of house arrest in the United States: “If this had gone the wrong way, it would have been the end of life as I knew it in any sense. It’s a very strange situation to have a different mindset now when you’re back. The other day I was in Piccadilly Circus, which has the biggest permanent traffic jam, and I just think: ‘This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen’. Life is wonderful,” she confessed to The Times. The 59-year-old businessman was happy after his return to the UK: “I had to say goodbye to everything and everyone because I didn’t know if I would ever come back. I have a second life now. The question is, what do I want to do with it?”
Before embarking on the Bayesian, the tycoon had recovered from emotional exhaustion at his private retreat, a farm in Suffolk, where he again enjoyed the company of his wife, Angela Bacares, and his two daughters, aged 21 and 18. The youngest, Hannah, has also died with her father. Here he raised rare breeds of livestock, including Suffolk sheep and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs. He also had five dogs, which he named after pieces of engineering, such as Switch and Valve. “Suffolk is my home. The lovely thing I find about Suffolk is that there is still a real community there. You meet so many people who do all kinds of things. When you’ve been there a while, you see the journey of their lives,” he revealed.
Just two days before the sinking of the Bayesian in which Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah, his partner, died, Stephen Chamberlaincharged and acquitted of the same tax fraud charges as his friend, was hit by a car while jogging and died in Cambridgeshire, England.
A police spokesman told the BBC that there was “no indication of anything suspicious or unusual” in Chamberlain’s death and ruled out contact with the Italian police who are investigating the sinking of the yacht Mike Lynch was on. Many Internet users claim that their deaths, just two days and two months after their acquittal, cannot be a coincidence.
