The Brazilian tennis player Joao Fonseca was proclaimed champion of the Next Gen ATP Finals 2024 by beating (2-4, 4-3(8), 4-0, 4-2) the American Learner Tien in the final this Sunday in Jeddah ( Saudi Arabia).
The Brazilian, the second youngest champion in the history of the tournament at 18 years old after Jannik Sinner in 2019, rounded off a breakout 2024 season, from world number 730 to 145.
Fonseca, who had words at the celebration for the Spanish Rafa Nadal, present in the stands, will undoubtedly be a player to watch in 2025. Last summer he won his first Challenger title in August and this campaign he also cut his teeth on the ATP Tour, adding his first ATP Masters 1000 victory in Madrid and climbing to the quarterfinals at the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro.
