The president of Sporting de Braga, António Salvador, accused Benfica of using Málaga to put pressure on their attempts to sign Ricardo Hortasince the Spanish club is entitled to a percentage on a sale of the player.
“The only entity that decides on his assets is Braga, and he has already said and repeated that he is not interested in negotiating for Ricardo Horta. If any club opts for the route of a third party to pressure the sale, it is wrong“, he said in statements to the Portuguese chain SIC.
Salvador was thus referring to the news that Malaga has 67% of Ricardo Horta’s financial rights and demands that Braga sell it to Benfica or compensate it financially if it does not want to go ahead with the operation.
Benfica has offered 10 million euros for the Portuguese international, one of the players who stood out the most in Braga’s last season. The proposal has been rejected by Braga and that is where the pressures to which Salvador refers come in, since Malaga understands that one of the clauses agreed in the agreement with Braga states that the Portuguese club has to take over all the economic rights of Horta if it rejects an offer.
“Braga have the right not to want to negotiate for Ricardo Horta and they are not going to do it”defended the president of the club from the north of Portugal, who assured that the contract that was signed with Málaga when they signed him included “conditions”, but “it is not as it appears in the media”.
