Brady rises in a WTA ranking where Barty continues to lead

The victory in the tournament in Lexington (USA) and her first WTA title, has raised the American Jennifer Brady to position 40 in the ranking women's tennis world championship, the best of her career.

Brady has jumped nine spots to make the top 40 for the first time.

The list is still headed by Australian Ashleigh Barty, followed by Romanian Simona Halep, who with his victory in the Prague tournament is less than 1,400 points behind the “aussie” player.

Meanwhile, the Swiss Jil Teichmann, defeated by Brady in the Lexington final, climbs nine spots to 54, equaling his best ranking, which he achieved for the first time in July 2019.

Belgian Elise Mertens, a finalist in Prague, moved up one place to 22, ahead of German Angelique Kerber, former number 1 in the world and now 23.

Garbiñe Muguruza continues to be the best Spanish classified, in position 16, followed by Carla Suárez, who drops one place and remains in 69. Sara Sorribes, who rises four and is now 80, and Paula Badosa, who remains at 94, are among the top hundred in the world.

The only Latin American among the first hundred is the Puerto Rican Monica Puig, in '91.
