Brad Binder repeats sprint victory in Jerez

The South African rider Brad Binder (KTM) has achieved victory in the MotoGP sprint race at the Spanish Grand Prix, the fourth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, a test in Jerez in which Jorge Martín (Ducati) touched the podium and Dani Pedrosa (KTM) finished sixth.

Binder, who had already won the sprint race in Argentina, repeated his victory in the short test on Saturday ahead of the reigning champion of the premier class, the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), for the third time on the podium in his fourth short race. of the course.

A first lap accident involving Álex Márquez (Ducati), Augusto Fernández (KTM), Italian Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha) and Bezzecchi brought out the red flag. The action resumed after eleven laps, and Binder did not miss the opportunity to take the lead after passing Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) and Miller.

A crash at turn 9 with six laps to go, after losing the front end, left the man from Granollers out of the fight, just shortly after Álex Márquez crashed again to leave permanently. Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) also failed to finish.

Ahead, only Miller disputed the victory against the South African, taking the lead after halfway through the race. However, Binder hit him back with one spin to go and claimed his second short win of the season.

Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) was seventh and added three points that allowed him to displace Álex Rins (Honda), thirteenth this Saturday, from third position in the Drivers’ Championship. Raúl Fernández (Aprilia) finished fourteenth and Augusto Fernández (KTM) seventeenth, just ahead of Iker Lecuona (Honda).
