Bosz will coach Lyon

The dutch Peter bosz, former coach of Ajax Amsterdam and Borussia Dortumnd, among others, will be the new Lyon coach after the departure of Rudi Garcia, the club reported this Saturday.

Bosz, 57, who was a player of the Tulón between 1988 and 1991, as far as he speaks French, he has extensive experience as a coach, both in his country and in other leagues.

He will be Lyon's thirtieth coach and has signed a contract until 2023the club said in a statement.

Adept of offensive football and of promoting training centers, his career as a coach began in 2002 in the Netherlands, before making the leap to the Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In the summer of that year he was appointed technician of the Ajax, with which he finished second in his championship and played the final of the Europa League with a group consisting essentially of young players.

The following year he signed for the Borussia and in December 2018 by the Bayer Leverkusen, which he qualified for the Champions League after finishing fourth in the German championship. He also led the team to the German Cup final in 2020.

Lyon highlighted their experience with more than 400 games directed from the bench and his ability to seek out young talents, which goes well with the club's desire to promote its training center, “considered the third in Europe after Real Madrid and Barcelona.”

Bosz reaches a bench abandoned by Garcia with harsh criticism of the sports director of the entity, the Brazilian Juninho Pernambucano.

Lyon finished fourth last season, so they will play the Europa League, without having been able to achieve a place in the Champions League, which was the goal of the club.
