Borussia Dortmund sees Haaland’s departure “imminent”

MUNICH (GERMANY), May 8. (dpa/EP) –

The departure of Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, is “imminent”, as is the signing of his possible replacement, the German Karim Adeyemi, manager Sebastian Kehl told Sport1 on Sunday.

“I think next week we will have it clear,” Kehl said of the Norwegian. Haaland has a release clause at Dortmund and it is rumored that he is about to close his move to Manchester City.

Haaland’s contract, which runs until 2024, has a release clause that would see him leave Dortmund at the end of the current season for €75m. Due to the death and serious illness of Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, the process of signing him for the English club took longer than expected.

In exchange, international striker Karim Adeyemi is expected to move from Austrian Salzburg to Dortmund. “I guess this week we will move forward with Karim,” explained Kehl, who is responsible for professional players at the Rhenish club. Adeyemi’s adviser, Thomas Solomon, revealed days ago that the transfer was close to closing.

Sport1 reported that Dortmund and Salzburg had already agreed on the transfer in exchange for 38 million euros, although this figure could reach up to 41 million euros through the payment of extras. Dortmund signed Nico Schlotterbeck from Freiburg and Niklas Süle from Bayern Munich to strengthen their defense.
