Boris Johnson’s theatrical farewell: he leaves Downing Street with a “that’s all, friends” pulling the woman’s arm

Very intense and theatrical. This has been the goodbye of the prime minister Boris Johnson in his speech this Tuesday, September 6, in front of the doors of the emblematic 10 Downing Street. Wearing a discreet and sober charcoal gray suit, white shirt and turquoise blue tie, the former prime minister said goodbye with an unusual statement that has resounded on the front pages of all the media: “That’s all, friends”, the classic goodbye Porky from the Looney Tunes strip. Even more shocking has been the image of the president pulling the woman’s arm, Carrie, while she tried to say goodbye with kisses and hugs. Carrie was literally dragged by her husband into the Range Rover. Boris was in a great hurry to leave.

Before formally submitting his resignation to the queen Isabel II, at Balmoral Castle (Scotland), Johnson said goodbye at the gates of his official residence in London. In his words, he recalled his achievements in Brexit, the launch of the vaccination program against covid-19 and the support for Ukraine after the Russian invasion. Before and after his intervention, he was holding hands with his wife, Carrie Johnson. They walked holding each other, very firm. They were showing their hands, as a sign of union, strength and mutual support. They form a team.

Carrie, moved by the moment of goodbye, has chosen a lady cut dress in fuchsia pink with floral details. A cheerful and vibrant color for a day of goodbyes. Fitted with a cummerbund, the design features puff sleeves with a ruffled cuff.

At the end of the speech, Boris and Carrie have once again held hands firmly while looking into each other’s eyes. At a time when her wife has approached to kiss her companions, the former president has begun to pull her by her arm until he almost carried her to the car. This Tuesday the Queen receives the outgoing minister, Boris, and the incoming prime minister, Liz Truss.
