Bono and U2 change the lyrics of ‘Pride’ as a tribute to the victims of Israel

The Irish rock band U2 has shown its solidarity in favor of the victims affected by the recent war conflict in Hamas, after remodeling the lyrics of one of its signature songs.

In their latest performance in Las Vegas, they performed an emotional and renewed version of one of their anthems, Pride (In the name of love), in the middle of a musical recital.

The leader of the group, Bono, dedicated a few words to the victims murdered and kidnapped in the Supernova festival massacre, where at least 260 people lost their lives. Before giving way to the musical performance, she noted: “In light of what happened in Israel and Gaza, a song about nonviolence may seem ridiculous, but our prayers have always been for peace.” […]. You know where our hearts and our anger are headed, so sing with us for those wonderful kids at the music festival.”

After these emotional words, the singer of the rock band changed the first verses of the song to adapt them to Israeli history: “Early in the morning of October 7, when the sun rises in the desert sky, stars of David. They took your life, but they didn’t take away your pride, in the name of love,” sang the Dublin artist.

The artists themselves shared a video on their official X account about the musical performance, and today it has accumulated more than seven million views.
