Blatter continues in the ICU: “Doctors are satisfied, but there is still a long way to go”

Former FIFA President Joseph Blatter is still admitted to a Swiss hospital, in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), although his health has improved in the last days after three weeks of great difficulty as a result of a cardiac intervention.

Blatter, 84, was hospitalized at the end of December 2020 to solve a heart problem and spent a week in an induced coma, as revealed by his daughter Corinne Blatter Andenmatten in an interview with several Swiss media, as a spokesperson for the family.

“Doctors are satisfied with his condition. But there is still a long way to go. It was the hardest and saddest Christmas of my life, “added Corinne, the daughter of the former president of FIFA between 1998 and 2015.

Since his resignation from the body – in June 2015 – as the head of world football, Blatter has been plagued by corruption scandals at FIFA and has faced several health problems. That same year, he had to enter the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a collapse of the immune system; in 2016 he suffered skin cancer, and also had to undergo knee surgery. Last year he also suffered from coronavirus.
