Bitter draw for the U-19 National Team

The Spanish under-19 team tied with the Austrian team (2-2) in their first qualifying match for the European Championship to be played in Slovakia from June 18 to July 1.

Santi Denia’s team came out determined to solve it quickly and in the 12th minute Artero scored the first Spanish goal with a splendid shot after a precise cross from the left.

With the 1-0, Spain maintained control of the ball and dominance. It didn’t take long for the second Spanish goal to arrive through Barcelona player Illias Akhomach in the 22nd minute after picking up a ball that had previously hit a post.

From that moment on, the dominance of the Spanish team decreased, but Austria barely bothered Álex Padilla and the game went to halftime with 2-0.

Yes, the Austrian team did it in the second half. Wydra beat Álex Padilla as soon as the second half began and put his team into the match.

Austria took a step forward and was able to equalize in a messy play in the Spanish area. The rain, which did not stop throughout the match, intensified and made the pitch heavy and dangerous.

The growth of the Austrian team was confirmed with a goal from Kanuric in the 68th minute that served to equalize the match. Spain tried to react against a rival that felt comfortable under the incessant rain.

In the final minutes, Santi Denia’s team had options to score, but the 2-2 result was unalterable, so they will have to play qualifying for the European Championship next Tuesday against Denmark.
