MADRID, 5 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) achieved this Saturday the ‘pole position’ for the MotoGP races in the British Grand Prix, the ninth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, after a rough qualification on very wet asphalt and in which Álex Márquez ( Ducati) was the best Spaniard to finish third.
Thanks to his fastest time of 2:15.359, Bezzecchi secured pole position at Silverstone Circuit, and he did so despite crashing out in the last minute of Q2. Few were spared from falling to the ground because of the heavy rain; the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), current leader of the World Cup, suffered a hard fall with 6:36 to finish that Q2.
The new Practice for the maximum displacement of the World Championship, released the day before, had given direct access to 10 pilots to Q2. The other two participants, earning their place this Saturday from the previous Q1, were the Italian Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha) and the Spanish Augusto Fernández (KTM).
In that instance, the also Spanish Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) was eliminated, but his brother later saved the ‘furniture’ of the family with his third position. Just ahead of Álex Márquez on the grid will be Australian Jack Miller (KTM), whose best time at the finish line was 2:15.629.
