Bezzecchi, Acosta and Sasaki rule at Sachsenring on a first day of rain and falls

Marc Márquez went to the ground and ran over Zarco during the MotoGP free seconds

MADRID, 16 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati), in MotoGP; the Spanish Pedro Acosta (Kalex), in Moto2; and the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), in Moto3, were the fastest this Friday in the free practice day of the German Grand Prix, the seventh round of the Motorcycle World Championship, in which Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) suffered a fall in which he overwhelmed the Frenchman Johann Zarco (Ducati).

On a day marked by the presence of rain at the Sachsenring, especially during the afternoon, Bezzecchi, second in the championship 21 points behind his compatriot Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia (Ducati), asserted his 1:20.271 achieved during the second session to become the fastest man on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Spanish Jorge Martín (Ducati) was two tenths behind the transalpine, and Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) finished third in the combined times, just ahead of the World Championship leader. Also within the ‘Top 10’ that gives direct access to Q2 finished Álex Márquez (Ducati) and the Frenchman Johann Zarco (Ducati), involuntary protagonist of the great accident of the day.

The red flag waved just over three minutes before the end of the P2 of the premier class; Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) lost control of his bike in turn 1 and crashed, hitting the Frenchman’s bike and splitting it in two. Despite the spectacular nature of the accident, the two runners are in perfect condition.

The one from Cervera could only be fourteenth, just behind Augusto Fernández (KTM). Among the rest of the Spaniards present on the German track, Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) finished sixteenth in the combined and Raúl Fernández (Aprilia) was nineteenth.

ACOSTA LEADS IN MOTO2

In Moto2, Pedro Acosta (Kalex) led the combined times ahead of fellow Spaniards Alonso López (Boscoscuro) and Manu González (Kalex). A time of 1:23.979, achieved in P1, earned the Murcian to be the fastest on Friday in the intermediate displacement.

The rain at Sachsenring during the second free practice session meant that the ‘Top 14’ set during the morning did not change, with Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro) sixth and the World Championship leader, Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex), eighth.

The Spanish Albert Arenas (Kalex) and Jeremy Alcoba (Kalex), eleventh and twelfth respectively, also remain within the provisional cut.

SASAKI LEADS IN MOTO3 AND MASIA IS THIRD

Finally, in Moto3, after a second session marked by the red flag caused by the accident suffered by the British Scott Ogden (Honda) at turn 8, the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), third last week in Italy, was the fastest of the day by asserting his 1:25.840 in the morning.

The Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM), who suffered a fall that forced him to go through the medical center, and the Spanish Jaume Masià (Honda), second in the championship, accompanied him on the ‘podium’ of the day, which he came close to Iván Ortolá (KTM), fourth classified on Friday at the Sachsenring, two tenths behind the Japanese.

The rain that fell in the afternoon session prevented the records of the inaugural batch from being improved. The leader of the small category and winner in Mugello, Dani Holgado (KTM), finished the day sixth, and José Antonio Rueda (KTM) entered the ‘Top 10’, ninth, with the rest of the Spaniards out of the Q2 positions .
