Betis goes to Mendizorroza after its improvement in the Conference League

Butarque hosts Leganés-Las Palmas to measure expectations

MADRID, 24 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Betis Balompié will visit Deportivo Alavés this Sunday in matchday 2 of LaLiga EA Sports, with better spirits among the Sevillians due to their victory (0-2) last Thursday against FC Kryvbas in the ‘playoff’ for access to the Conference League, and on the other hand, CD Leganés vs UD Las Palmas will measure the expectations of each team.

At the Mendizorroza Stadium, from 19.15, Betis will take to the pitch eager to open their league campaign with a winning streak. In the first matchday, against Girona, Manuel Pellegrini’s men did not go beyond a draw (1-1), although days later they had the pleasure of beating the little-known Kryvbas in that European tie.

Played in the Slovakian town of Kosice, due to the exile of the Ukrainian club due to the ongoing war in their country, this Conference playoff match allowed Betis to play more freely and get rewarded on the scoreboard. Although they still need to finish the job in the return match, the Betis team left the game well on track.

And he did so with a first goal scored in the six-yard box by Ezequiel ‘Chimy’ Ávila, taking advantage of the rebound from the Kryvbas goalkeeper. In the offices of the Betis club there are hopes placed on the Argentine striker recovering the effective version of his time at SD Huesca and, above all, that of his years at CA Osasuna.

Apart from fitting Ávila in, Betis’ attack still shines with Rodri Sánchez, who had a great game against Kryvbas with his 0-2. However, it is presumed that Pellegrini will not have him under his command for long, since the ’17’ is on the market and it seems that he will leave sooner rather than later, in order to ease the club’s finances.

In the case of Alavés, it does not seem that the final stretch of this transfer market will cause any scares. The arrivals of the Argentine Tomás Conechny and the Andalusian Juan Diego ‘Stoichkov’ to their forward line have yet to bear fruit, but Luis García Plaza’s approach has the full backing of the directors and the presumed support of the fans.

Following their defeat (2-1) during the first matchday in their visit to Celta de Vigo, the ‘babazorro’ team will now raise the curtain of LaLiga EA Sports at home. And the result in Mendizorroza between Alavés and Betis will be awaited by Leganés and Las Palmas, who will be evaluating their respective projects of continuity and rupture at the Municipal Stadium of Butarque.

While the pepineros are testing the skills of their young coach Borja Jiménez in the First Division, having had a successful 2023/24 season as champions of LaLiga Hypermotion, the Gran Canarians are still trying to adapt to the ideas of their new coach Luis Carrión, successor to Francisco Javier García Pimienta on that ‘pío-pío’ bench.

During the opening matchday, Leganés drew (1-1) in their visit to Osasuna while Las Palmas did the same (2-2) at home and against Sevilla. Therefore, achieving their first league victory soon would clarify the final weeks of a summer that could still surprise the coaches of both teams with a signing.
