MADRID, 19 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Betis has started this Tuesday the construction of its new sports city in the Sevillian town of Dos Hermanas with the planting of five olive trees, according to a statement from the Verdiblanco team.

“Construction work has begun on the new Ciudad Deportiva del Real Betis Balompié in Dos Hermanas. The transformation of the land of the new home of the Verdiblanca quarry has begun with the planting of five olive trees,” confirmed the club’s statement.

The event was attended by the president of Betis, Ángel Haro, and his board of directors; the general directors of the entity; the Real Betis head coach, Manuel Pellegrini; and the four captains of the squad, Joaquín, Guardado, Canales and Fekir.

The Dos Hermanas City Council was represented by its mayor, Francisco Rodríguez García, as well as the director of the South of Spain area of Acciona Construction, Manuel José García Alconchel, representative of the winning company.

The first phase will have an execution period of 10 months so that the 2023-2024 season of the quarry begins in Dos Hermanas. The budget for this phase is 26.5 million euros, financed by the European Investment Bank. “The bioclimatic design, natural ventilation, efficient consumption reduction systems, water reuse, the use of renewable energies, landscape integration and low maintenance, among other factors, have been meticulously cared for,” the note reported.

Thus, the councilor Ozgur Unay explained the technical details of the new sports city, which will be built on an area of 51 hectares. This first phase will have five 11-a-side football pitches with natural grass, three 11-a-side football pitches with artificial turf, two 7-a-side football pitches and two specific preparation areas for goalkeepers.

Likewise, in this first phase, the common areas of the changing rooms, the multifunctional building for offices, gym, medical services and meeting rooms will be built. Another building will also be fitted out for maintenance and access control, a surface car park for 1,500 vehicles and other road works attached to the complex, in addition to urbanization actions in the area. In addition, the new residence will be able to house up to 120 homegrown players.

Ángel Haro highlighted this project as one of the keys to the future of the entity. “It is one more step in the growth process of Betis to achieve its ultimate goal: to make the Betis happy. As was the construction of the South Goal, the achievement of the Betis de los Betis, the regular presence in European competitions and the conquest of the last Copa del Rey”, he expressed.

“With the same rigor and the same enthusiasm with which we are planning our next challenge: the completion of the Benito Villamarín Stadium,” added the club president.

At the end of the institutional act, the participating leaders, the coach and the four captains planted five olive trees together with a group of boys and girls from the Betis youth academy.
