Bestué, Peleteiro and Adrián Ben, protagonists of the finishing touch to the Spanish Championship

The 103rd Spanish Athletics Championship on the track of the Ciutat de l’Esport de Torrent (Valencia) ended this Sunday afternoon with a last session with a record of the championships of Jaël-Sakura Bestué, Adrián Ben and FC Barcelona 4x400m women.

Bestué prevailed for the fourth time in the final of the 200 meters with a time of 22.72, a trail followed by Paula Sevilla to achieve a personal best. On the other hand, the men’s 800 had the level that was seen in the morning in the 1,500 or 400, with Saúl Ordóñez and Mohamed Attaoui launched, but surpassed by Adrián Ben (1:45.01), while Mariano García’s bike tried to start up. In the women’s race, Lorea Ibarzabal from Madrid was the favourite.

Another of the expected figures in Torrent was Ana Peleteiro, who won the women’s triple in her start six months after becoming a mother. The Galician won as she did last week at the Madrid meeting, but she did not win the ticket to the World Cup in Budapest, with 14.21 to María Vicente’s 14.20, both far superior to the rest.

Pol Retamal defended his title in the 200m, while Laura Bankó made her debut in the 100m hurdles. In the 110 hurdles, Enrique Llopis also made his debut, as a clear favorite and touching only one fence (13.40). On the other hand, the men’s height and javelin were for Carlos Rojas (2.16) and Nicolás Quijera (77.44).

In addition, the Galician Belén Toimil made the weight and was proclaimed champion of Spain for the fourth consecutive time (and won her 13th medal) with her first throw (17.89).

The finale of the relay brought another championship record with the 4×400. The women’s long relay was won in the final stretch by FC Barcelona (Eva Santidrián, Geena Stephens, Laura Hernández and Aauri Lorena Bokesa), who revalidated with 3:33.63. The 4×100 was for Playas Castellón both in men, Adrià Alfonso, Alberto Calero, Daniel Rodríguez and Mauro Triana, and in women, Ona Rossell, Ana Irene Elewe, Paula Sevilla and Lucía Carrillo.
