Berlusconi, 86, admitted to intensive care at a Milan hospital

The former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi and owner of Mediaset has been admitted this Wednesday to an intensive care unit of a hospital in the city of Milan, about a week after being discharged after undergoing various tests, in the midst of speculation about his state of health.

According to information collected by the Italian newspaper ‘Il Corriere della Sera’, the leader of Forza Italia is admitted to the San Raffaele Hospital, where he has undergone tests. Her eldest daughter, Marina, is expected to come to the medical center in the next few hours to visit her father.

Berlusconi, 86, was hospitalized between March 27 and 30 and, upon leaving the medical center, declined to make statements to the press. He had already been hospitalized in this same center on other occasions, the last one in January 2022 due to a urinary tract infection.

Likewise, in September 2020 he was hospitalized due to bilateral pneumonia after contracting coronavirus, while in 2019 he underwent surgery for intestinal obstruction. Previously, in June 2016, he underwent heart surgery.

Despite his age and the various legal cases that have been filed against him for years, Berlusconi remains a popular figure in Italy. In fact, in the last elections he was able to hold an elected position again, as a senator, and his party is part of the current government coalition, headed by Giorgia Meloni.
