MOSCOW, Nov. 11 (dpa / EP) –

The Belarusian skier Alexandra Romanovskaya, world champion of the freestyle modality in 2019, has been arrested in her country, according to the Belarusian Solidarity Sports Foundation (BSSF), an opposition group to the government of Alexander Lukashenko.

This group indicated that the 25-year-old athlete was arrested on Wednesday after a training session. The skier, ‘Best Belarusian Athlete’ of 2019, had been critical in recent months with the authoritarian rules of the country’s president, Alexander Lukashenko. According to BSFF, she must appear before a judge this Thursday and has been accused of disobedience to a manager.
