Bayern, Upamecano goal to relieve Boateng

Bayern Munich is interested in Leipzig's French central defender Dayot Upamecano, to replace Jérôme Boateng next year at the end of his contract, according to the German newspaper Sport Bild on Thursday.

According to this medium, Bayern does not intend to renew Boateng, world champion with Germany in Brazil 2014, who currently plays at the best level at 32 years old. But the Munich club is targeting the 22-year-old Upamecano, has an exit clause of 42 million euros next summer.

Bayern currently have six Frenchmen on their squad: Corentin Tolisso, Kingsley Coman, Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez, as well as Bouna Sarr and the young talent Tanguy Nianzou. A seventh Frenchman, Michaël Cuisance, is under contract from Bayern, but on loan for the current season to Marseille.
