Bayern Munich expects a quick offer to come to fruition for Spaniard Thiago Alcántara in the coming days and does not expect his compatriot Javi Martínez to continue in their ranks.
“It seems that he wants to leave us,” says the club's president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, in statements to the Sunday of “Die Welt”, alluding to Thiago, who arrived at Bayern in 2013 at the express wish of the then Bavarian coach, Pep Guardiola.
Thiago's contract with the powerful Bundesliga club expires in 2021, but in German media there has been speculation for weeks about a transfer of the 29-year-old midfielder, perhaps to Liverpool.
Rummenigge says that having to fire him will be “painful”, but he also appears to be counting on it to happen “these days.”
More or less the same situation is predicted for Javi Martínez, whose contract would expire at the end of next season.
“Javi is thinking of leaving us,” says Rummenigge. If he finally makes that decision, he continues, “we will try to find a fair solution,” he adds.
