MADRID, 14 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Bayern Munich, coached for a year by the Spanish Pablo Laso, and Panathinaikos, current champion of the Euroleague basketball team, have respectively won the German Bundesliga and the Greek League this Friday, after beating ALBA in final qualifying rounds. Berlin (3-1) and Olympiacos (3-2).
At the Uber Arena in the German capital, the 29 points scored by Carsen Edwards guided Bayern’s scoring, which broke the game in its favor during the third period with a cumulative partial of 6-21. Thanks to this victory (82-88), the team led by Laso closed the series and won the Bundesliga five years after its previous title.
Furthermore, this success has been added to the German Cup that Bayern won on February 18. A national double that has taken away from the Munich club the bad taste of having been left in the Euroleague outside of the playoffs, and not even playing in the previous play-in.
In the end, the torch of that Euroleague traveled to the Panathinaikos showcases, thanks to their victory in the final against Real Madrid. In the wake of that success, the green team from Athens also completed the final series in their country’s League this Friday.
They did it with epic included, culminating a comeback in the final from 0-2 to 3-2 and against their great historical rival, Olympiacos. Thus, Ergin Ataman’s pupils took revenge for having lost to their neighbors from Piraeus, throughout this season, in the finals of the Greek Super Cup and the Greek Cup.
It was precisely point guard Kostas Sloukas, former Olympiacos player, who led his team to the fifth victory of the series (87-82) with 29 points in his locker. In this way, the million-dollar investment made last summer by the ‘PAO’ has crystallized into substantial titles.
