Bayern Munich will cut salaries for unvaccinated players

BERLIN, Nov 21 (dpa / EP) –

Bayern Munich players not vaccinated against the coronavirus will not receive their salary while they must be quarantined for testing positive or having contact with an infected person, reported this Sunday the Sunday ‘Bild am Sonntag’.

The media cites team sources to explain that the club’s board met on Thursday with the four players who have had to quarantine recently to inform them that they would not receive their salary retroactively.

‘Bild am Sonntag’ also reported that the current German champion does not rule out implementing greater penalties for unvaccinated players, such as that, for example, they must train on their own, with the aim of pressuring them to get the vaccine. However, the club did not comment on the information from the German media.

Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had to quarantine after their partner Niklas Süle tested positive two weeks ago. The three German internationals missed two qualifying matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Kimmich, who has confirmed in public that he does not have the vaccine, is returned to confinement after a person from his private sphere tested positive. He was absent in Bayern’s 2-1 loss to Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday and will also do so on Tuesday against Dinamo Kiev in the Champions League.
