Bayern imposes its trade against Arsenal and gets into the Champions League semi-finals

A header from Kimmich resolved the duel in Munich (1-0)

MADRID, 17 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Bayern Munich reached the semi-finals of the Champions League this Wednesday, thanks to their 1-0 victory against Arsenal FC in the second leg of the quarter-finals, thanks to a goal from Joshua Kimmich and making it 2-0. 2 of the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The first 20 minutes on the Allianz Arena grass left more good intentions than quality on the part of both teams. It was there when Gabriel Martinelli dangerously approached the local goal with a slalom, cut off by Bayern defenders almost in the small area.

The Munich team responded with two chances in a row, in the 23rd and 24th minutes, first with a shot from Noussair Mazraoui and then with another from Jamal Musiala, neither of them lucky. Arsenal also increased their intensity and, after half an hour, Martin Odegaard put Manuel Neuer in some trouble.

A shot by the ex-Madridista and ex-Realista, from outside the area, hit an opponent and forced the Bayern goalkeeper to correct his stretch. Having saved that scare, Neuer immediately suffered another one due to a left-footed shot from Martinelli inside the area, after a pass from Odegaard, and which went high.

Apart from those attempts, little else came together before the break. But upon returning from the locker room the matter changed, Mikel Arteta’s pupils started without enthusiasm and his opponent punished him. When the 63rd minute was up, Leroy Sané reached the baseline from the right wing and crossed just past the far post, where Raphael Guerreiro controlled the ball.

GUERREIRO AND KIMMICH, SUPPORTERS WITH PROTAGONISM

The German team’s winger looked up and placed his cross at the penalty spot, where Kimmich appeared from behind and between the Arsenal defense to head powerfully into the back of the net. Although Arteta later moved his bench, neither Leandro Trossard nor Gabriel Jesus had the impact desired by the Gunner fans.

Bayern managed each spurt of the game well, slowed down the pace and relied on Musiala’s speed in transitions. Gabriel Jesus prowled for the tie, but wasted his shot with his right foot. Except for him, sometimes Bukayo Saka and Odegaard, the English team had little offensive caliber.

Precisely the Norwegian playmaker, in the 88th minute, starred in the last clear approach to Bayern’s goal. He found a gap and hit a low right hand next to the post, which Neuer deflected with his left glove, although the referee did not signal a corner and the linesman did not notice either.

The Spanish David Raya, the visiting goalkeeper, went up to finish off another corner kick that occurred in stoppage time, but the Gunners finally fell and said goodbye to the top continental competition. For its part, the team that Thomas Tuchel now coaches will return four years later to the semifinals, looking for a title to win this season.
