Bayern complicates their round of 16 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome

Lazio surprises the Munich team (1-0) in the first leg

MADRID, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Bayern Munich lost 1-0 this Wednesday on their visit to SS Lazio, due to a penalty converted by Ciro Immobile, and complicated their round of 16 in the Champions League, forced to come back in the return duel scheduled for the March 5 at the Allianz Arena.

Despite this disadvantage, Thomas Tuchel's pupils showed a good face at the start at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Leroy Sané combined in the 2nd minute with Joshua Kimmich, who shot wide far from the area, and later Harry Kane sent another dangerous shot into the clouds.

Lazio did not find a way to worry their opponent until the 22nd minute, when Luis Alberto executed a right foot from the front that almost went wide. Sané responded on half an hour, with a left footed shot near the post from a foul on the edge of the area, and in the 40th minute Jamal Musiala wasted an action linked by Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka.

Bayern's number 42 accompanied the play on the left side, entered the local area, received the pass and shot with his left foot, but the ball went over the crossbar when goalkeeper Ivan Provedel already seemed beaten. And there was little else before the break.

In fact, the Munich team began to get drowsy upon returning to the locker room. Following a long pass, Gustav Isaksen gained the back of the central defenders and received inside the rival area, tamed the ball and shot low, forcing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to clear with one foot.

LOOSE SECOND PART

The match then entered a somewhat thick phase, with Bayern dominating without success. However, the Italian team took advantage in the 69th minute with a counterattack where the ball ended up at the feet of Immobile, who in front of Dayot Upamecano tried several great dribbles.

The ball was loose in the area and Isaksen created his shot, quick but deflected. In his rush to block that shot, Upamecano over-braked and stepped on Lazio's Danish forward; The referee, without hesitation, awarded a penalty and sent off the visiting defender with a direct red card.

The veteran Immobile, hardened in a thousand battles, did not waste that maximum penalty and with determination materialized the 1-0, ultimately final score. The German team revived its most recent ghosts, due to the 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on matchday 21 of the Bundesliga.

Tuchel reacted with several substitutions, but none had any effect and even Lazio, with a couple of counterattacks in added time, may have punished their opponent even more. The team coached by Maurizio Sarri completed its victory without scares and is close to causing a surprise.
