Bautista and Murray will not play in Cologne due to physical problems

Roberto Bautista has withdrawn from the second Cologne tennis tournament which begins this Monday due to “physical discomfort suffered from days ago.” This is indicated by his communication department, which indicates that “the whole team trusts that, after a few days of recovery, they will be able to face the end of the season as planned.”

The loss of Bautista, who started as second favorite, has forced a change in the tournament draw, and so the duel between Alexander Davidovich and the Croatian Marin Cilic, a repeat of the one they kept last week in the same tournament, will not be given.

The Spaniard will face in the first round against the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur, and Cilic against the American Steve Johnson. The Argentinian Diego Schwartzman becomes the second seed of the tournament.

Murray is also short

The return to tennis of the British Andy Murray has suffered a new setback, and the Dunblane player, winner of three Grand Slam titles, has announced his withdrawal from the Cologne tournament (Germany) that is disputed this week.

Murray, 33, 116 of the world, this time suffers from tendonitis in the left psoas, in the pelvic area. In the first phase of this tournament, last week, he was defeated by the Spanish Fernando Verdasco (6-4, 6-4).

The new setback occurs when Murray tries to regain his level, after having twice operated on his hip, That however did not prevent him from getting the title in Antwerp last year.

“The injury has been coming and going since the US Open”Murray said in a video on Facebook.

“I tried to deal with it in training and in games, but unfortunately after meeting here, the pain returned. I've been training the last few days trying to deal with it, but after playing some points today (Sunday) I decided that it wasn't enough to play, “said the player.
