Baskonia sets the pace and Barça and Real Madrid respond

MADRID, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Cazoo Baskonia overwhelmed Monbus Obradoiro (110-94) this Wednesday in matchday 28 of the Endesa League, setting the pace in the leadership that Barça matched shortly after with their victory (55-70) over Coviran Granada and that they are pursuing a Real Madrid also victorious (89-70) against Bàsquet Girona.

Joan Peñarroya’s men licked the wounds of being left out of the Euroleague ‘playoffs’ and the defeat against Lenovo Tenerife with which they gave up the domestic leadership alone. Obradoiro paid the piper with a historic 34-9 in the first quarter, a competition record in the first 10 minutes.

The Basques’ offensive recital had Robertson as their greatest rival, who scored 44 points for the Galicians, the fourth best score of the century. The Buesa Arena applauded its heroes, with the serious option of fighting for the League, notable Heidegger (26 points), Thompson (20 and 9 assists), Kotsar and Dani Díez.

In the night session, Barça kept the tie at 23 victories with those from Vitoria in a hard-fought victory in Granada. Those of Sarunas Jasikevicius built a wall in the Nasrid Palace, pulling the defense to continue at the top. The locals kept the pulse but trailing a 7-22 in the first quarter. Mirotic, Sanli and Satoransky were the best for Barça.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid, waiting for the infirmary as the culé team ahead of the start of the European ‘playoffs’ next week, beat a Girona at the WiZink Center that was left without an answer. Randolph (12 points, 8 rebounds and a PIR of 20) signed his first great performance after returning from his injury and Chus Mateo’s team had the power of Tavares and Yabusele under hoops.

On the other hand, UCAM Murcia left Valencia Basket in 14 wins to not give up the ‘playoff’ positions, two victories from the eighth place marked by the ‘taronja’. Sito Alonso’s team overcame (90-82) with authority a Valencia that will have to rearm for the final leg, led by McFadden (21 points, 5 triples and a PIR of 21).
