Baskonia-Madrid, Barça-Efes and Valencia-Monaco to open the 2023/24 Euroleague

Regular Phase until April 12, ‘Play-In’ from April 16 to 19, ‘Playoffs’ until May 8 and ‘Final Four’ from May 24 to 26

BARCELONA, July 18. (EUROPEAN PRESS) –

The 2023/24 Euroleague presents a change in format, with the arrival of the new ‘Play-In’ prior to the ‘Playoffs’, and will begin with the Regular Phase on October 5 and 6 (ending on April 12, 2024) with a Spanish duel between Baskonia and Real Madrid, the defending champions, and with two also interesting Barça-Anadolu Efes and Valencia Basket-Monaco.

Real Madrid will begin the defense of the title won against Olympiacos in Kaunas (Lithuania) at the Buesa Arena in Vitoria, against a Baskonia that will get rid of the champion at the first exchange, waiting for the second round.

For its part, Roger Grimau’s new Barça will start the competition at the Palau Blaugrana against a ‘coconut’ like Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Tough rival to put himself to the test, in a project without Nikola Mirotic or Sarunas Jasikevicius and which, for the moment, has its star signing in Willy Hernangómez.

Valencia Basket, which repeats its presence in the Euroleague as a guest after the resignation of Gran Canaria (current Eurocup champion), will debut at ‘La Fonteta’ against Monaco, one of the teams called to fight to be in the ‘Final Four’ ‘.

The Regular Phase will run from October 5 and 6, 2023 to April 11 and 12, 2024, when the last day will be played with the respective duels for the Spanish; Zalgiris-Real Madrid, ASVEL Villeurbanne-Barça, Virtus Bologna-Baskonia and Partizán-Valencia Basket. The first Clásico will be in Madrid, on matchday 5 (October 26), with the return to the Palau on January 3, 2024, on matchday 18.

After this first group, the new ‘Play-In’ that will be played by the teams classified between seventh and tenth position in the Regular Phase, and that will give the last two tickets for the ‘Playoffs’, will be played between the 16th and 19th of April, with those ‘Playoffs’ starting on April 23 and, at the latest, with a possible end on May 8. The ‘Final Four’, which will be held in Berlin (Germany), will be from May 24 to 26.
