The Spanish rider Joan Barreda (Honda) remains strong in this final stage of the Dakar Rally and, despite his left clavicle discomfort, was third in the tenth stage, disputed between Wadi Ad Dawasir and Bisha on 375 kilometers of special, and was ranks fourth overall.
Barreda reached the finish with 3:21 minutes lost compared to the winner of the stage, the Australian Toby Price (KTM), while Luciano Benavides (Husqvarna) was second (at 2:09) and the French Adrien Van Beveren (Yamaha) He was fourth at 3:35.
Van Beveren took advantage of the fact that Sam Sunderland (GasGas) left just over 11 minutes to regain the lead. The French and the British are exchanging and now Van Beveren is the leader with 4:15 minutes of margin on the Chilean Pablo Quintanilla (Honda) and 5:59 on Sunderland.
And close to that podium and in the midst of fighting again for the general classification, with the last two stages of this Dakar 2022 missing, is a Joan Barreda who is 6:47 behind the leader, ahead of a Matthias Walkner (KTM) which is at 8:24 after losing 15:15 minutes in this tenth stage.
It was the second setback for KTM, after reigning champion Kevin Benavides had to drop out at kilometer 134 of this stage due to a mechanical problem, ending his chances of finishing this Dakar and continuing to defend his crown.
