Barcelona and Espanyol are the winners of the MIC

The MIC Tournament returned after two years of pandemic in which it prevented hundreds of boys, girls and young people from enjoying one of the most referential competitions in international grassroots football. An edition, the current one, which has been a success of participation and good football, which has reinforced the proposal of the tournament and has left two winning clubs on the way, such as Barcelona and Espanyol.

Barcelona has prevailed in the categories Sub-16, Sub-14 y Sub-12. In the oldest, he won the trophy after beating Esport Club Granollers on penalties, who had an extraordinary tournament. The result of the shootout was 4-2 for the azulgrana after the 0-0 draw in the regulation match. The victory in the U-14s also came on penalties 3-4 against Atlético de Madrid after another goalless draw, while the U-12 A categoryAtlético was once again second-placed after losing to Barcelona 0-1.

Espanyol, meanwhile, achieved victory in the women’s U-20, a category in which they have already won four titles in recent editions. The Andorran National Team could not put up much resistance in the final and lost 5-0 to the Blue and Whites. Espanyol also triumphed in the Sub-12 B category, defeating Sevilla 4-0 in the final, and at the MIC Integra in which the team participating in the Special competition took the trophy.

In the rest of the categories, Athletic Club won 2-0 against Julian Vaszquez Fútbol Plaza in the U-20 final, Real Sociedad also won a trophy for Donosti in the U-18 by defeating Unió Esportiva 0-1 Quarter, Olympique de Marseille beat Villarreal in the Under-15s by 1-0 and, lastly, Valencia beat the French team 2-1 in the Under-13s final.

During this Holy Week many familiar faces have been seen in the 33 stadiums that have hosted the competition. The last, Iván de la Peña, former Barcelona and Espanyol player and now representative of players like Eric García or Gavi; and Luis García, coach of the Damm Juvenile and also a former Espanyol player. Football has recovered a classic.
