Barça wins its third Copa de la Reina in a row

Those of Jonatan Giráldez thrashed (6-1) Sporting de Huelva

BARCELONA, 29 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona has been proclaimed champion of the Queen’s Cup after thrashing Sporting Huelva (6-1), in a festival of the azulgranas who close the season with the best possible taste in their mouths after the stumble in the final of the ‘Champions League’, thus achieving its third consecutive Cup.

After signing a perfect League with 30 victories in 30 games, Jonatan Giráldez’s men won the third title of the season against a Sporting de Huelva that could only withstand the culé gale for the first 20 minutes. In fact, the Andalusian team was able to get ahead on the scoreboard with a shot to the post by Anita Marcos, but Sandra Paños avoided a greater evil for the Catalan side and the goals began to fall on the goal of the Huelva team.

Sporting, who were at the mercy of their rival throughout the match, survived Barça’s constant internments until the 24th minute, when an unfortunate action between goalkeeper Dolan and central defender Fischer triggered the first goal for the azulgranas after an inaccurate rebound that ended up inside the network.

Misfortune took over the Andalusians and the jug of cold water took its toll on them. Thus, Jonatan Giráldez’s team delved into the wound and took the opportunity to open the distance on the scoreboard. The scoreboard worked and Mapi León, with a precise shot from the penalty spot, made it 2-0 after a corner kick.

The damage had already been done and Sporting were grateful for the break to recover from the dominance of the defending champions of the Iberdrola League. However, the bad news continued to hit the Andalusians, so Antonio Toledano was forced to move the bench due to discomfort in the right thigh of the Swedish Endgren.

The match script was repeated again in the second half, with Barça clearly dominating, but this time the Huelva team redeemed themselves from the error in the first goal. Captain Sandra Castellón took advantage of a bad rebound from the culé defense and closed the gap in the 61st minute with a shot to the top corner.

The culé reaction was not long in coming and ten minutes later they sentenced the final with an unappealable shot from Crnogorcevic, who put the third to give peace of mind in the last stretch of the final. Later, the feast continued and both Claudia Pina and Lieke Martens sent the ball to save to get the ‘little hand’ (5-1) in 86′.

But the party lasted until the final whistle and the captain Alexia Putellas put the last of the final in the added to close a plethoric match at the Santo Domingo stadium (Alcorcón) before 3,414 spectators. Thus, FC Barcelona added the ninth Copa de la Reina to its showcase, extending its dominance in women’s football.
